So as I have stated many many times, I have THE best job in the world :) I get to work with youth!! Here at First Covenant Church we have a 2 year program called DtO (Defy The Odds) for the 7th-8th graders. What this consists of is a 2 year committment that will take you through a walk through of the Bible one year, and the next year it will teach you the Spiritual Disciplines. At the end of the 2 years, if you have completed everything ( memory verses, devo's, sermon notes, etc) you then will get Confirmed. Confirmation is such a great opportunity for these students to celebrate their 2 years of hard work and dedication. Not only that, but we hope and pray that during the 2 years that they have built their own faith, and that they also know WHY and WHAT they believe. We pray that during this time, they also fall more in love with Jesus, and what He is to them.
Last Sunday we have what we call "Confirmation Sunday" it's a day where we get to recognize the 8th graders who have completed the 2 yr program. Two students give their testimony in front of the church , and then we recognize each student as they walk across the stage and receive a Life Application Study Bible with their name engraved in it. After everyone gets their Bible we then stick around for picture time!!
I absolutely LOVE the opportunity I get to run this program. It's a great way for a Jr Higher to get to know THEIR faith and begin to realize who this God is that our parents say we love and serve. It's awesome to see the students asking questions & begin to understand :)
So below are the pictures that were taken by Shelley Schroeder with my camera. Her daughter was getting confirmed and I had to be in the program but wanted to take pictures of this great ceremony, so a big thanks to Shelley for me!! :)
Here are the 11 Confirmation Students of 2013!!

This was so awesome to see and hear. Pastor Doug and his SR daughter Anna sang together for Mothers Day! They sounded incredible!!! |
|
Elaine was reading 3 John for the morning's passage for the message. She did an incredible job, especially with some of those crazy names. |
|
And that's me, being nervous and hoping that I didn't mess up haha. I was explaining what DtO is all about!! haha There is a reason I speak to youth and not in front of lots of adults :) |
|
Hannah was one of the students who read her testimony !! Can't wait to see what God does in her life!! |
|
Dylan, also reading his testimony. He has a great relationship with the Lord, and i'm exciting to see how he brings others to know His Savior! |

The Beautiful Anna McHenry :) She is now a High School Graduate |
So after our ceremony at church, I was invited over for lunch to the house of some of my youth to celebrate their confirmation. It was a delicious lunch, but while we were waiting these 2 beautiful girls decided that we needed to take pictures! So they posed and I snapped the pictures! Never a dull moment with these 2 around !!!
